Forums are cool

July 3, 2026 - web

I've never really participated in forums much in the past, but I've recently stumbled upon a couple and it's been really cool!!

First one was when I started actually participating in some of toyhou.se's forum games after finishing an oc profile, and it was really fun seeing other people's ocs and getting comments / interactions on mine (it's also like a space of the site with people who care more about oc lore and whatnot instead of the adopt / collector community)

Another two I've been frequenting is melonland and treefort, which, as someone who never grew up on forums, made me discover how great they are! They feel like real communities, unlike most social media nowadays which kind of feel really separated / isolated. It's also really cool seeing the actual, thought out and long form discussions people have, and also the profile customisations / signatures?? MMM (especially melonland! I've only briefly looked at it in the past and didn't know they had things like customisable rooms, guilds, art galleries, etc SO COOL)

Melonland feels like a bigger space with lots of cool features and a more active community- like a city maybe. Meanwhile, treefort feels like a smaller, close-knit community. I feel like I already recognise a lot of the frequent posters on there and, idk, it just feels really welcoming and like everyone kind of knows each other!
